3. I live in CA or AZ can you ship apples to us?

No, due to over reaching regulations we are no longer permitted by New York State to Ship to CA & AZ.  California and Arizona Department of Agriculture require us to keep apples in cold storage for 30-45 days before we can begin shipping them.

4. What are your gift boxes like?

Our apple gift boxes are a white corrugated apple gift box with a Soft Foam insert.  The foam insert has an individual round hole for each apple. The apple is nestled in protective foam. The boxes look really nice and they keep your apples in pristine condition.  Some other companies use a cheap method with a cardboard insert, a little fake grass and a cardboard sleeve... you get what you pay for.

5. What are the 40lb cases and why does it say "Some Risk of Bruising"?

We offer Honeycrisp in 40lb cases to provide our costumers a more affordable way of getting Honeycrisp to their door, to satisfy their Crunch craving.

These cases were originally designed to be shipped to the supermarket stacked on a pallet and traveling on an air ride truck.  For our retail customers we ship these UPS. If someone at UPS gives the case a toss then you're apples will likely arrive with bruises the size of a quarter (as reported by other customers).

Generally the apples arrive in great shape and we have customers re-order again and again.   Note, there is a difference between bruising and destroyed!  If you have any question just give us a call.

6. What is the difference between Extra Fancy and Fancy Grade and Utility Grade?

These are USDA grades.

Our Extra Fancy is a little bit than what we would send to the grocery store. These are perfect in color, shape and condition. These are the best for gifts and for those who enjoy perfectly pretty apples.

Fancy Grade could have a minor blemish (never broken skin), they may be lower in color or be slightly misshapen.  These are great for eating at home. If you're sending apples as a gift, we'd recommend Extra Fancy.

Utility Grade are a grade below "Fancy". Utility Grade apples could have the appearance of Fancy or Extra Fancy but with slight bruises, minor blemishes and/or dimples caused by hail. They are fine for eating if you don't mind blemishes, these are great for pies. Enjoy those Honeycrisp pies.

7. What is meant by "Count"? In cases how do I figure the size of an apple?

In the apple industry size is described by how many apples (of that size) will fit in a bushel box holding approximately 40lbs of apples.

For example it takes (100) "100 Count Apples" to fill a bushel box.

Therefore the smaller the apple, the higher the "Count". Likewise the larger the apple, the smaller the count. Putting this on a scale of Large to Small we get the following:

36, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 88, 100, 120
Larger Apples----Medium Apples----Smaller Apples

9. Where are you located and why are your apples so special?

Most of our apples are shipped from Northern New York just South West of Plattsburg and just south of Montreal Canada.  Our warmer varieties are grown and packed at our Marlboro NY facility, which is about an hour North of New York City, nestled just below the Catskills.  Most of our apple varieties love the colder weather.  "Colder the better" we like to say.

We take special care to ensure our apples are the highest quality; From the growing process to storage to packing the gift box. Real people, caring people, working carefully to ensure you get the best.
